Trauma Sensitive Yoga Programme
Complex trauma develops as a series of adaptive responses due to ongoing stress and adverse conditions, usually in a relational sense. These responses, including disconnection and shame, can be mitigated over time by inviting survivors to notice their bodies through the exploration of basic yoga shapes.
Without focusing on the trauma itself as in some traditional therapies.
Without placing any requirements on the person by encouraging independent choice making, offering different options, and creating an environment of shared authenticity and safety. Studies from The Trauma Centre have found that these basic principles have helped survivors of complex trauma reconnect to their bodies and to their lives.
